Funds for Health Facility Denied

Share

A proposal for Azusa to give $500 per month to the Los Angeles County Azusa Public Health Facility failed to win City Council approval on a 2-2 vote.

The center, at 150 N. Azusa Ave., is a county facility staffed by volunteer physicians.

Mayor Eugene Moses suggested the contribution as a small compensation for the services, used by many Azusa residents. Councilman Stephen Alexander voted with Moses.

Councilman John Dangleis said he is opposed to aiding a county institution regardless of who it benefits.

Councilwoman Cristina Cruz Madrid said she favored the support but wanted to wait until she received more information from the County Health Center regarding its expenses.

Councilman Tony Naranjo was absent.

This item will be brought before the council again in late January.
