All-Star Football to Spotlight Area Players, Including Swinton
Ninety senior football players from 30 area high schools will compete in the fifth Burbank/East San Fernando Valley vs. Glendale/Foothill All-Star Game tonight at 7 at Sylmar High.
Among them is Stanford-bound Eliel Swinton of Montclair Prep, a 5-foot-10, 192-pound back who rushed for 5,904 yards and 67 touchdowns in 618 carries (9.6 average) in three seasons.
Swinton will compete for the West, which also features nine players from Sylmar’s City Section 4-A Division championship team.
Nine players from Crescenta Valley, a Southern Section Division II semifinalist, are on the East team, including running back Paul Lopez (947 yards, 11 touchdowns) and wide receiver Brett Miller (27 catches, 469 yards).
