Share

Unseeded Laszlo Molnar of Cal State Fullerton shocked top-seeded Shaon Fry of Missouri, 5-4, Friday to advance to today’s final in the 167-pound division of the NCAA wrestling championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Molnar will face another unseeded wrestler, Mark Branch of Oklahoma State, in the final. Branch will have the added incentive of being in a position to help the Cowboys to the team championship. They led three-time defending champion Iowa after Friday’s competition and advanced three wrestlers to the finals.

Molnar reached the semifinals by defeating Chris Kwortnik of North Carolina State, 2-1, earlier Friday.
