Three of the four referees who handed out red cards in the opening week of the World Cup--Peter Mikkelsen of Denmark, Heinz Hellmut Krug of Germany and Neji Jouini of Tunisia--were among those selected to officiate the rest of the first-round matches. The other referee who gave a red card, Arturo Brizio Carter of Mexico, was named as an alternate.
