LOS ANGELES : Photographer Settles Suit Over Use of Shapiro Pictures
A photographer whose picture of a bungee-jumping Robert Shapiro was aired without his consent accepted $5,001 to settle his suit against KNBC-TV, a station spokeswoman said Thursday.
Peter Borsari, a free-lancer who sold the copyrighted photo of the nearly free-falling O.J. Simpson lawyer and pictures of his family to People magazine and the Star, filed the infringement lawsuit last September in Los Angeles federal court. He originally sought $10,000.
The settlement was approved April 18 by U.S. District Judge Audrey Collins.
Borsari said that once the photos were broadcast July 8, the copyright interest was “rendered essentially valueless.”
