Santa Ana Valley 37, Saddleback 0--Santa Ana Valley had the ball for only two minutes and four offensive plays in the first quarter, but still scored 19 points on the way to the rout at Santa Ana Stadium.

The Falcons (3-0) scored first after defensive end Leafi Naea recovered a bad snap from center on a Saddleback punt at the Roadrunners’ seven-yard line. Naea then switched to running back and scored on the first play from scrimmage.

On the Roadrunners’ next possession, Valley’s Lee Calvin stepped in front of Dan Rodriguez’s pass at the 45-yard line and returned it for a touchdown.

Saddleback (0-3) punted after three plays on its next possession, and Valley’s Kyle Marks returned the punt 77 yards for a touchdown with 2 minutes 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Valley’s defense held Saddleback to 142 yards for the game. The Falcons gained 245 in total offense, led by Naea’s 93 yards in 14 carries.

B.J. Wallace, whose six touchdowns coming into the game led the county, scored Valley’s final touchdown on a five-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
