Costa Mesa continued its undefeated season with a 34-3 victory over Long Beach St. Anthony’s in a nonleague game Friday night at Clarks Field.

The Mustangs, who beat Saddleback, 32-0, and Corona del Mar, 24-0, nearly completed their third consecutive shutout, but a late field goal by St. Anthony’s prevented that from happening.

Costa Mesa took control of the game quickly, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter.

Jimmy Herzog finished off the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, giving the Mustangs a 34-0 lead.

Costa Mesa (3-0) plays at San Gabriel Gabrielino next Friday.
