L.A. Jordan 19, San Fernando 16--Major Caldwell set a school record but the fourth-seeded Tigers were upset at San Fernando.
Jordan (6-4) will play Reseda in a quarterfinal game Wednesday.
Caldwell rushed for 123 yards in 28 carries to surpass the school record of 1,566 yards in a season set in 1970 by Anthony Davis. Caldwell finished with 1,642 yards.
“I don’t even care about the record right now,” said Caldwell, whose eight-yard touchdown run with 2:20 left allowed the Tigers (6-5) to pull to within three points. “My season’s over now.”
San Fernando regained possession but Larry Brown’s pass was intercepted by David Jackson at the Tiger 30 in the final minute.
Brown completed seven of 29 passes for 54 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown to Gerardo Rubi in the second quarter to give San Fernando an 8-7 lead.
