Dodger Fans Begging to Keep One of Their Own

Share

I cannot believe that the Dodgers are trying to trade both Eric Karros and Raul Mondesi.

I have no desire to root for a bunch of mercenaries solely because they wear the Dodger uniform, which will mean very little next year. What is next, trading Vin Scully for Joe Buck? Please cancel my season tickets. I’ll watch baseball at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

If Mondesi is traded for anything less than Ken Griffey Jr. or Greg Maddux, Kevin Malone should check himself into a mental institution. If keeping Mondesi means the Dodgers won’t have enough money to afford Kevin Brown or Randy Johnson, so be it. Losing a player that means so much to the fans is a monumental mistake. We already experienced it once with Piazza. It can’t happen again.

All I ever saw from Bobby Bonilla during his tenure here was a willingness to assist the club in any way possible, on the field, off the field, on camera, or working with the younger players from the bench.

In my book, Jason Reid came perilously close to libeling Bonilla in his story on the trade to the Mets. He wrote a hard news story, yet he opined time after time as though he had penned an op-ed piece, without offering even a minimum of facts to back up his claim of the “stormy relationship” that supposedly existed last season.

In his brief stint as a Dodger, Bobby Bonilla was a class act.

What kind of spineless ingrate quits on his team in the middle of a division stretch drive, even if it’s the wild-card race? What sort of back-biting, stone-throwing moron castigates his general manager after he has been traded? A spoiled professional baseball brat of the ‘90s, that’s who. And Bobby Bonilla fits the bill perfectly.

Should Bonilla wield the power over Gary Sheffield that he professes he does, it’s suggested that Mr. Malone send Sheffield packing, lest Dodger fans be condemned to a season of ineptitude in left field fueled vicariously by the preaching of Bobby Bo(o-hoo).

A big thanks to Bobby Bonilla and Jason Reid for the article finally blaming Tom Lasorda for the demise of our beloved Dodgers. The firing of Bill Russell, Fred Claire and Mark Cresse is Lasorda’s responsibility, no matter how he denies it. He is such an egotist he can’t stand anyone to outshine him. If the Dodgers would just get rid of him, most of their problems would be solved.

When will L.A. admit it was wrong about Jose Offerman?
