ANAHEIM
The City Council tonight is expected to renew funding for a $90,000 gang suppression program operated by the Orange County Probation Department and Anaheim police. The Gang Suppression Services program, which began in 1992, coordinates the efforts of law enforcement, schools and probation officers in curtailing gang-related activity by beefing up supervision of minors and adults on probation, referring probationers and their families to counseling agencies or other community service programs, and regularly patrolling known gang hangouts and documenting alleged gang members and associates. The council meets at 5 p.m. in chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
