Sheriff’s Department Seeks Public’s Help Locating 4 Fugitives

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public’s help in locating four people being sought on suspicion of violating probation or possessing and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Arrest warrants have been issued in each case.

Anthony Thomas Leahy, 40, allegedly violated his probation on a conviction for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Leahy, who also uses the name John Mathison, was last known to have lived in the 1400 block of Thousand Oaks Boulevard. He is white, 5 feet 9, 200 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

Merlinda Teresa Mendoza, 21, allegedly violated her probation on a conviction for passing a bad check.

Her last known address was in the 4600 block of Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard. Mendoza is Latina, 5 feet 5, 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has flower tattoos on both ankles.

Gary Wilson Scott, 41, allegedly violated his probation on a drug conviction. He last worked at a livestock company in Saticoy, and his last known address was in the 80 block of Bell Way in Ventura.

Scott is white, 5 feet 9, 170 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a Harley-Davidson eagle tattoo on his right arm and a skull on his left arm.

Chad Michael Young, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and being under the influence. He was released from custody pending further investigation and charges were filed. A warrant was issued for his arrest after authorities discovered that Young failed to give them a current address.

Young last worked as a self-employed construction worker and his last known address was on Sutter Road in Simi Valley. He is white, 6 feet, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a wolf tattoo on his right arm, a Tasmanian devil on his left arm and the name “Katelynn” on his chest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 385-8255 or 494-8255. The information can be given anonymously, and there is a cash reward for any information that leads to a conviction.
