Titans Win Twice at Tournament

Cal State Fullerton finished the Oklahoma softball tournament with two victories Sunday in Norman, Okla., defeating Nicholls State, 3-2, and Kansas, 4-0.

In the first game, Monica Lucatero had three hits and two runs batted in, including the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh. Her one-out single scored Jodie Cox from second to provide the winning margin.

In the second game, Cox pitched a three-hitter to improve to 6-0 and Amanda Hockett hit her second home run for the Titans (16-2), who won five of six games in the tournament.

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

Long Beach State 72, UC Irvine 66--Rhonda Smith had 28 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots for host Long Beach (16-9, 10-3), which trailed by three at halftime before rallying. Chelsea Mackey scored 21 points and Megan Stafford had 17 for visiting Irvine (12-13, 5-8).

Pacific 69, CS Fullerton 53--Fullerton stayed with host Pacific (16-9, 7-6) until a 22-7 run in the second half gave the Tigers control. Erin Whiteside had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Fullerton (2-23, 1-12).
