Toasting My Dad Attempts to Bounce Back

A narrow loser in his latest, Toasting My Dad will try to make amends in tonight’s seventh, a $50,000 claimer for older horses at 300 yards.

Trained by Jaime Gomez for Dutch Masters III, the 4-year-old Special Task gelding will break from post five in the field of six. Alex Bautista will ride.

First or second in half of his 16 races, Toasting My Dad will be opposed by Debs Silver Shadow, Jazz Again, Runnin On Ease, West Coast Okie and Glitter Spider Man.

Earlier in the program, Legal Thief will try for his third victory in a row and fourth in five races in the opener, a $4,000 claimer for thoroughbreds going 4 1/2 furlongs.

Owned by Gilberto Verduzco and trained by Jesus Nunez, Legal Thief, a 7-year-old gelding, will leave from the inside post under jockey Antonio Castanon.

Shots in the dark: Date Me makes his first start since Aug. 24 for trainer Tom Bazley in the fifth. Runnin On Ease is a nine-time winner making his Los Alamitos debut in the seventh.
