A hit-and-run driver gravely injured a pedestrian Friday night on Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, authorities said.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken by helicopter to a hospital with multiple injuries.

Los Angeles police were looking for the driver, a woman described as having shoulder-length brown hair and wearing a yellow shirt and white sweater. She was reportedly driving a silver Toyota Prius, no older than a 2000 model, at a high speed southbound when her car struck the pedestrian at a crosswalk near Temescal Canyon Road about 8 p.m., according to LAPD spokesman Bruce Borihanh.

The incident was the second gruesome hit-and-run involving pedestrians in two nights in Los Angeles, Borihanh noted.

On Thursday night, an unidentified man in his 40s was killed after he was struck by two cars at Riverside Drive and Fletcher Drive near Atwater Village.

Both cars fled the scene, and no arrests have been made.
