Karimi’s family last saw her leaving their house to volunteer about 7 a.m. that day, police said.

According to Karimi’s father, after his daughter left, she used her credit card to buy gas. She then stopped at Vons and bought a sandwich before texting her mother she was on her way to the medical center to volunteer.

That’s the last time anyone heard from Karimi, KTLA reported. Video from the Vons parking lot shows Karimi getting into her car alone and no one following her.

She was scheduled to board a flight with her family Wednesday morning from Los Angeles International Airport for Boston, police said.

Karimi has brown hair and green eyes, stands 5-feet-5 and weighs 135 pounds. She has a thin build, fair complexion and was last seen wearing a dark blue hospital shirt, white pants and orange and blue shoes.

She was driving a 2007 green Toyota Prius with a California license plate No. 5YVV475.

[For the record, 10:15 a.m. July 31: An earlier version of this post gave the wrong year for the missing woman’s Toyota Prius. The LAPD said she was driving a 1997 car; it was a model year 2007.]
