Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Hollister, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening one mile from Hollister, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:52 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 12 miles from Gilroy, Calif., 14 miles from Prunedale, Calif., 17 miles from Salinas, Calif., and 118 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
