Police have released a partial sketch of a man sought in the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl at Coldwater Canyon Elementary School in North Hollywood.

The incident occurred Jan. 22 as the girl, who was attending an after-school program, was walking from the playground to a restroom about 5:30 p.m., police said.

The girl told authorities the would-be abductor grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth, Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Kammert said.

The victim got away by biting the man’s hand. She then notified school officials, who called police, according to Kammert.

Police arrived soon after but the man had already disappeared.

The girl told police the attacker was a white man with curly salt-and-pepper hair and was wearing brown shoes with no laces.

She also described him as having a “dirty appearance” with wrinkles on his forehead and piercings or healed piercings on both ears.

She was not able to get a good look at her attacker’s entire face, police said.
