Most lanes of northbound 5 Freeway reopened after big-rig crash
The California Highway Patrol has reopened another lane of the northbound 5 Freeway in Castaic after a traffic accident involving a 26,000-pound tanker truck.
The lane was reopened about four hours after the collision was reported to the CHP.
Two lanes remained closed as CHP officials continued to investigate. They said they did not know how many vehicles were involved in the collision near Lake Hughes Road, which was reported around 4:47 a.m.

A freeway onramp also was closed to commuters. Traffic was backed up from Lake Hughes Road to Tapia Canyon Road, more than a mile south of the accident.
Some drivers were exiting the freeway and using Ridge Route Road to bypass the closure, prompting the CHP to send officers to Northlake Elementary School to assist a crossing guard.
It was not immediately known when the remaining two lanes would reopen.
