For the second time in 12 hours, the Dodgers on Tuesday announced a trade for a reserve outfielder.

The newest Dodger is Chris Heisey, who played 17 games for the team earlier this season. With Heisey and Justin Ruggiano, acquired Monday night, the Dodgers have added two outfielders who bat right-handed.

A Dodgers spokesman said the team has not yet decided whether Heisey and Ruggiano would report to Los Angeles or triple-A Oklahoma City. The Dodgers would need to clear a 40-man roster spot before calling up either one.

Heisey and Ruggiano would be eligible for a postseason roster, since each was acquired by Monday night’s deadline. The Dodgers closed the deal for Heisey on Monday night — agreeing to send cash or a player to be named to the Toronto Blue Jays — but could not coordinate an announcement with the Blue Jays until Tuesday morning.

With injuries to Enrique Hernandez and Yasiel Puig, the Dodgers have been starting an outfield of left-handed hitters: Carl Crawford, Andre Ethier and Joc Pederson. They now would have the chance to deploy an outfield of right-handed hitters: Ruggiano, Heisey and Scott Van Slyke.

Hernandez and Puig both are on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, with a potential return estimated in weeks rather than days.

Heisey, 30, was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on July 30. In 80 triple-A games this season — split between Oklahoma City and Buffalo — he batted .218 with 16 home runs.
