Football: Narbonne tries to get healthy and win Marine League title

Share

Two-time defending City Section Division I champion Narbonne is 7-2, but it has been a struggle at times for the Gauchos.

“This has been the worst year for us injury wise,” Coach Manuel Douglas said.

The Gauchos are starting to get players back just in time for Friday’s Marine League championship game against rival Carson at Narbonne.

Standout safety Khalil Rashad-Brown is expected back to help a defense that has played well in big games. Also banged up but set to return is running back Johnell Jackson.

Carson (5-4) has turned around its season with five consecutive victories. Leading the Colts has been All-City linebacker Manoah Pearson, who’s averaging more than 14 tackles a game. He’s also contributing at running back.

If Narbonne wins, the Gauchos will be no worse than a No. 3 seed when the playoff pairings are announced on Saturday afternoon.
