Football: Loyola to play its four home games in 2015 on campus
First home game in 65 years results in 42-35 victory
At a kickoff party celebrating Loyola’s 150th anniversary on Saturday night, school president Greg Goethals announced that all four Cubs home football games next season will be played on campus.
This season, the Cubs played their first home game since 1949 on campus. The experiment went so well that school officials decided they will switch from playing games at Valley College to playing games on their own field, bringing in bleachers and creating parking opprtunities.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Athletic Director Chris O’Donnell said of the challenge of playing games on Loyola’s campus.
The seating is about 4,000, which could produce a battle for tickets if the Cubs become a top team in 2015.
