Football: Quarterback Malik Henry commits to Florida State
Junior quarterback Malik Henry of Westlake Village Westlake announced Thursday that he has committed to Florida State. Henry made the announcement on ESPNU.
He has risen to the top of several recruiting services among the class of 2016 quarterbacks.
Henry has passed for more than 2,000 yards this season in helping Westlake win the Marmonte League championship. The Warriors begin the Pac-5 Division playoffs on Friday night at home against Santa Ana Mater Dei.
Henry’s decision means that three of the top football schools in Florida will soon have Southern California products at the quarterback position.
Miami has Brad Kaaya, a freshman from West Hills Chaminade. Florida is set to land Sheriron Jones from Moreno Valley Rancho Verde. And Florida State will be getting Henry, who’s also a promising baseball player.
UCLA, Notre Dame and Ohio State also pursued Henry.
