CHILE vs. COLOMBIA

Where: Chicago. Time: 5 p.m. PDT Wednesday. TV: FS1, UDN.

The buzz: Chile, the reigning Copa America champion, embarrassed Mexico, 7-0, in its quarterfinal, handing El Tri the worst competitive loss in its history. Eduardo Vargas scored four times in that game and leads the tournament with six goals. But Chile will be weakened here by the loss of midfielder Arturo Vidal, who will sit out with two yellow cards. And though midfielder Marcelo Diaz and forward Alexis Sanchez are likely to play, they could be less than 100%, with media reports saying neither trained fully this week because of injury concerns. Chile, which lost its opener to Argentina, has been perfect since then, outscoring its opposition 13-3 in its last three games. Colombia, meanwhile, has stumbled after winning its opener against the U.S., winning one of its last three matches in regulation, advancing to the semifinals by beating Peru on penalty kicks. James Rodriguez leads the team with two goals, but he hasn’t scored since the first half of the second game. With six goals in four games, Colombia is the lowest-scoring team among the four semifinalists.
