Clippers get break from road exhibition games

The Clippers have played five of their first six exhibition games on the road, something Coach Doc Rivers said was “too much.”

The Clippers will finish their eight-game exhibition game schedule with two games at Staples Center this week – Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz and Friday night against the Sacramento Kings.

The time at home will allow the Clippers to get in a lot of practice time because they won’t be traveling.

“You can practice after the [home] games, which is a lot easier than when you travel. Those practices are horrendous,” Rivers said. “You have them, but they are not very good practices. At least now we are playing, then practicing the next day and we can get into a rhythm of being at home. That’s nice.”

Rivers will have his team at practice Tuesday morning.

The Clippers’ first exhibition game was at Portland. Then the Clippers played at Utah, at Sacramento and at Phoenix in back-to-back games. The Clippers played their first home game against Portland, but then went to Las Vegas to play the Denver Nuggets in L.A.’s home game.

The Clippers, who are 4-2 in the exhibition season, open the regular season Oct. 29 against the Lakers in their designated home game.
