Country singer George Strait books four dates at new Las Vegas Arena

“The King of Country Music,” George Strait, makes history as the first entertainer to announce that he will perform at the new Las Vegas Arena, slated to open in April.

The Country Music Hall of Fame inductee plans to perform at the 20,000-seat venue on April 22, April 23, Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, 2016.

Strait’s latest album, “Cold Beer Conversation,” comes out Friday, with 13 songs, including his latest single, the title track.

It marks the singer’s first new studio album in two years, a follow-up to his “Love is Everything” album that featured his hit songs “Give It All We Got Tonight” and “I Got A Car.”

Strait already has more than 60 No. 1 singles as well as more than 68.5 million records sold. Some of his biggest hits include “Amarillo by Morning,” “Run” and “The Chair.” His career started with his breakout single “Unwound” in 1981.

Country singer Kacey Musgraves opens on those four dates. The Grammy-winning singer recently released her second studio album, “Pageant Material.”

Tickets for the concert series start at $75 and go on sale Oct. 2.
