Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore reunite for birthday, not for good

Although the actress formerly known as @mrskutcher (on Twitter, at least) recently reunited with former beau Ashton Kutcher at the birthday party of a mutual acquaintance, People is reporting that the ex-couple have no intentions of getting back together.

“They were friendly,” an unnamed source told the magazine, adding, “Ashton got up at one point and grabbed coffee in a paper cup for Demi, and they smiled a few times during the program at each other. They seemed to get along and feel comfortable.”

Alas, sometimes coffee and a smile is just coffee and smile.

Kutcher and Moore arrived separately to the 40th birthday party of kabbalah instructor Yehuda Berg, which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City.

Another source said, “The family is in a pretty good place right now, but Ashton and Demi won’t go back to being what they were.” However, “Ashton will always be a part of their lives, especially with regard to the girls and how close he is with them.”

The report runs contrary to recent speculation in Britain’s the Mirror that Moore and Kutcher might be headed for reconciliation.

Moore filed for divorce back in November, in the wake of rumors about Kutcher’s alleged infidelities. In a statement at the time, Moore said, “I have chosen to move forward with my life,” while Kutcher wrote on Twitter, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”
