Australian cosmetics mogul Napoleon Perdis, who will be touching up the stars at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, scoured the city to outfit his new 5,500-square-foot flagship space on Hollywood Boulevard. The result, which he calls “Dorothy Draper and white lacquer Baroque,” recalls an earlier era of L.A. glamour. “Interior decorating requires a hunter’s and collector’s mentality,” Perdis says. He snagged colorful pendant lights from a Paris nightclub while shopping at Downtown on La Cienega Boulevard, a replica Eiffel Tower from La Brea Antique Collection and glass chandeliers at Fantasy Lighting on Melrose Avenue. Each of Perdis’ makeup stations has an ornately carved lacquered mirror from Interior Illusions in West Hollywood hung on a super-sized black-and-white-stripe print from Astek Wallcoverings in Van Nuys. Illumination comes from brilliantly colored glass lamps found at estate sales and consignment stores in Palm Springs.
