Events: Doner Revolution pop-up, $1 oysters, talking Baker-to-Baker

Doner Revolution chef Farid Zadi is hopping on the Carb & Nation food truck for a one-night-only Algerian menu. The truck will be parked at Angel City Brewery in downtown L.A. Aug. 2, from 5 p.m. to midnight. The menu will include New York-style halal chicken, lamb, falafel, chorizo-stuffed bacon-wrapped dates with roasted peppers, fried baby potatoes with romesco sauce, parsley and lemon zest, along with Carb & Nation’s unique sodas. The Rockefeller is attempting to “cure the Monday blues” with $1 oysters and $5 Champagne and wine pairings on Mondays all summer long. They’re calling the special “Oyster Mondays” and it is offered at their locations in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Diners can mix-and-match between three seasonal types of oysters, each for a dollar. San Francisco bread baker Josey Baker is leading a discussion with bakers of all skill levels about bread, grains and the business of baking at Vibiana on Monday, Aug. 4. The event is aptly named “Baker-to-Baker” and is hosted by the Common Grains Collective. Guests are encouraged to bring their own loaves of bread for Baker to try and comment on. Baker will be joined by Zack Hall of Clark Street Bakery and KCRW’s Evan Kleiman for the bread-lover’s panel. Baker-to-Baker begins at 6:30 p.m. and is $15 at the door.
