Police are investigating the death of a man inside a UC Berkeley fraternity house Sunday afternoon, officials said.

Berkeley police identified the man as 20-year-old Antioch resident Vaibhev Loomba.

He was found dead about noon inside the Zeta Psi fraternity house, said Lt. Andrew Rateaver. The residence is not on campus property.

Loomba was not a university student or a member of the fraternity but did know people who lived at the frat house, police said.

It was unclear if drugs or alcohol was involved, but police told the San Jose Mercury News that it appeared there was a party at the house Saturday night.

“The thing about it is, typically when you get someone who’s older, the death could be natural causes. The fact that this person is younger, that’s something to have investigated,” Rateaver said.

Police went to the home after someone called and said that Loomba was unresponsive.

The department’s homicide division is investigating the incident, which is standard procedure in undetermined deaths, Rateaver said.
