Lindsey Vonn loses No. 1 spot in bad weather

Lindsey Vonn finished third in a weather-delayed super-G race on Monday, losing her top spot in the season standings, and was critical of conditions this week in Bulgaria.

Anna Fenninger won the race and took over No. 1 in World Cup super-G.

“I made some mistakes on the top part,” Vonn said. “But I skied well on the bottom and made up some time so I’m really happy.”

Fog caused numerous delays in Bansko over the weekend. Vonn was not happy with the Sunday’s alpine combined event, telling the Associated Press that international ski federation officials should not have allowed the race to proceed.

“I’m not sure what happened yesterday,” she said. “The snow was really inconsistent and bally.”
