Baseball: Huntington Beach, Chaminade advance to semifinals in North Carolina

Huntington Beach and Chaminade have made it to the semifinals of the National High School Invitational in Cary, N.C., after wins on Thursday.

Huntington Beach picked up a 12-7 victory over Florida Trinity Christian.

Hagen Danner and Chad Minato each had three hits and Landon Silver smashed a three-run home run. Matt Geiger threw four shutout innings in relief.

Chaminde received a two-run walk-off home run from Blake Solis with two outs in the seventh to defeat Georgia Walton, 9-8. Blake Rutherford went four for four. Nick Kahle hit a home run and double. Tommy Costello had three hits and three RBIs.

Santa Ana Mater Dei 3, Liberty Christian 2: Michael Peabody had two hits for the Monarchs.

El Camino Real 5, Cathedral Catholic 3: The Conquistadores won the Lions tournament in San Diego. Dane Reed picked up the pitching victory. Dylan Hirsch was named tournament MVP.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 5, Harvard-Westlake 3: The Knights came away with two wins in three games against the Wolverines this week. Jamie Robertson threw a complete game. Hunter Greene had three hits and Ryan McNab added two hits. Derek Kramer had a two-run double. Jake Suddleson hit his fifth home run, a three-run shot.

Etiwanda 8, Carter 4: The Eagles won a tournament championship by scoring five runs in the seventh. Tyler Bardowell and Kempsen Pearce each had two RBIs.

McClatchy 2, Burroughs 0: The Indians (7-2) dropped their second in a row. Kyle Nicol threw three shutout innings of relief in defeat.

Westlake 4, Thousand Oaks 3: The Warriors (4-0) stayed unbeaten in the Marmonte League and took over sole possession of first place. Eddie Kutt struck out six in six innings. Bo Jelnick got his fourth save. Connor MacLea hit a three-run home run. Tyler Flores had three hits. John Glenn had four hits, including a two-run home run for Thousand Oaks.

Agoura 8, Oaks Christian 2: Tommy Tabak had three hits to lead the Chargers. Michael Radin hit a home run.

Newbury Park 6, Calabasas 3: Carpenter Pagett allowed one run in four innings.

Saugus 3, Hart 2: The Centurions got the Foothill League win. Jacob Lopez struck out seven in six innings.

West Ranch 3, Canyon 1: Timmy Josten threw a six-hitter.

Valencia 12, Golden Valley 4: Trace Eldridge had a home run, double and five RBIs.

Tesoro 10, Capistrano Valley 1: Shane Coleman went three for three to lead Tesoro.

Aliso Niguel 8, Dana Hills 0: Zak Nocon threw the shutout.

Great Oak 5, Temecula Valley 1: Zack Noll (4-1) struck out six, walked none and allowed two hits in a complete game.

Beckman 11, Irvine 2: Connor Fidone had three hits and two RBIs. Matt McLain added two hits and two RBIs.

Murrieta Mesa 19, Vista Murrieta 2: The Rams (10-2, 3-0) won the Southwestern League game behind Hunter Woodruff, who had three hits and two RBIs. Andy Thomas added a home run.

Marina 3, Fountain Valley 0: Riley Ohl, a 6-foot-7 pitcher, threw the shutout and is emerging as a stopper in Orange County.

Los Alamitos 8, Newport Harbor 5: The Griffins are 3-0 in the Sunset League.

La Mirada 6, Mayfair 1: Jakob Gonzalez struck out 10 and Kevin Kendall hit a three-run home run.

Hemet 6, Tahquitz 3: Hemet is 3-0 in league.

Basic 5, Chatsworth 2: The Chancellors lost in the championship game of the Las Vegas tournament. Randy Mota and Max Mehlbaum had RBI singles.

Foothill 4, Brea Olinda 3: Dillon Brown threw seven innings and hit a home run in the eighth for the win. He didn’t allow any earned runs.

Esperanza 4, El Modena 3: The Aztecs got the win in nine innings. Erick Leef went four for four. Steven Rodriguez had three RBIs.

Trabuco Hills 8, Mission Viejo 5: The Diablos lost the Sea View League game. Chad Crosbie led Trabuco Hills with three hits.

Laguna Hills 2, San Clemente 1: Andre Pallante struck out 11 in defeat.

Bellflower 1, John Glenn 0: Eric Romo threw seven shutout innings and Anthony Garcia had a walk-off double for Bellflower.

Sierra Canyon 4, Windward 3: Billy Edwards finished with three hits for Sierra Canyon.

Village Christian 5, Valley Christian 0: The Crusaders are 3-0 in the Olympic League.

Woodbridge 6, Northwood 5: Woodbridge hung on for the victory.

El Dorado 12, Canyon 6: Ian Meyer had three hits in the Crestview League game.

Corona del Mar 2, University 0: Evan Larsen threw the shutout.
