Football: Players have valuables stolen during all-star game

Share

El Segundo is considered one of the safest cities in the Southland. Some people still leave their doors unlocked in the evening.

So it’s a little disheartening that when players returned to their locker rooms at halftime of Saturday night’s Lions All-Star Game at El Segundo High, some learned they had valuables stolen, such as smart phones and head phones.

“It’s unfortunate,” said El Segundo Coach Steve Shevlin, who coached in the game.

Police were called to investigate. El Segundo was a last-minute replacement site for Mira Costa because of the rain. There were no further issues.

The Blue team defeated the Silver team, 31-3. Quarterbacks Marte Mapu (Hawthorne) and Daniel Schubert (Bishop Montgomery) combined for 369 yards passing.
