Body found on Simi Valley property often visited by police

Simi Valley police are investigating what they’re calling a suspicious death after a body was found on a large residential property that has been visited by officers multiple times in the past.

Simi Valley Police Cmdr. Stephanie Shannon said detectives do not know whether the unidentified person died at the location in the 4000 block of Adam Road, or if the body was transported there.

Officers discovered the body about 8 a.m. Thursday after arriving at the property in response to reports of a suspicious incident. The manner of death remains to be determined and it was not known how long the body had been there, Shannon said.

Detectives spent all day at the roughly quarter-acre property, she added. The property is in an area where larger residential properties are used for businesses, as was the case with this location.

In a statement, Simi Valley police acknowledged that officers have previously responded to the location “for various reasons over the years.” But the department noted at this stage they have no evidence that any of the calls were related to the current investigation.

Detectives working with the Ventura County medical examiner and district attorney’s offices were also at the scene Friday.
