Coroner officials identify grandfather and grandson killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Palmdale

Los Angeles County coroner officials released the names of the two men killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Palmdale.

Crawford Eugene Deuitt, 74, and Brandon Wesley Deuitt, 25, were found shot to death about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday when deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 37800 block of 29th Street East.

Both men had been shot once in the upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the two men had been arguing when it escalated into a shoving match and ultimately ended when the older man retrieved a handgun and shot his grandson.

He then turned the gun on himself, authorities said.

There have been three homicides in Palmdale since the start of the year, according to The Times' Homicide Report.
