L.A. Now Live: Discuss Sharper rape case, Craigslist killing suspect, Stow case

Join Times staff writer Kate Mather at 12:30 p.m. Friday for a discussion of some of the most high-profile stories of the week: Ex-NFL star Darren Sharper, San Francisco Giants beating victim Bryan Stow and the guilty pleas from his attackers, and “Craigslist killer” suspect Miranda Barbour, who claims a victim in L.A.

Sharper pleaded not guilty Thursday to drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles in a case that prosecutors say now includes allegations that he may have been involved in another incident in Miami.

Last week, Sharper, 38, was charged with seven rape and drug counts involving four women he reportedly met at a West Hollywood nightclub. Other incidents in Las Vegas, New Orleans and Tempe, Ariz., remain under investigation.

Meanwhile, the two attackers in the Stow beating case pleaded guilty Thursday and each received prison terms. At one point during the hearing, the judge called them “complete cowards.”

And Barbour -- the “Craigslist killer” suspect who reportedly told a Pennsylvania newspaper that she killed 22 people, including someone in Los Angeles -- has been dominating the headlines, particularly after her father called her a liar and “the most manipulative person I have ever known.”

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating her claim that she committed murder in L.A.
