A 73-year-old man was arrested after crashing his golf cart into a tree at the PGA West country club in La Quinta and then passing out in front of a nearby home, authorities said.

Gary Osborn of La Quinta was taken into custody about 2:26 a.m. Monday after he was found on the lawn in front of a home inside the country club, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Osborn, who authorities said they believe was intoxicated, was reportedly lying next to the crashed golf cart.

Authorities said it appears Osborn and a female passenger were riding the golf cart when, for unknown reasons, she fell off.

Security officers said they later found her lying on the course with dried blood on her face.

Osborn apparently continued driving until he allegedly crashed into the tree, and may have struck the home’s garage door.

Authorities said neither Osborn nor the woman lived at the home.

They were taken to a local hospital, and Osborn was later booked into sheriff’s custody.
