Man fatally stabs his wife's boyfriend in Harbor Gateway, police say

A man is accused of fatally stabbing his wife's boyfriend early Monday

A 29-year-old man is in police custody after he stabbed his wife and his wife's boyfriend early Monday morning, authorities said.

About 2:30 a.m., Los Angeles police officers responded to a call of a child screaming in the 16000 block of South Figueroa Street in Harbor Gateway and found a man and a woman with stab wounds, said LAPD Lt. Jeff Nolte.

The assailant, who tried to flee, was taken into custody.

Police said that the husband got into the apartment and attacked the woman and her boyfriend. Two children under the age of 6 were also in the apartment at the time of the stabbing.

"They definitely saw portions of the incident," Nolte said.

The man, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, 23, was treated for non-life threatening injuries, Nolte said. The children are in police custody.

The woman recently separated from her husband and was in the process of getting a divorce.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victims or the assailant.
