Los Angeles police detectives Thursday were seeking witnesses to a fatal stabbing that occurred near a bar off Hollywood Boulevard.

About 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, two men got into a fight over money outside the Rusty Mullet, a bar off North Las Palmas Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke. Radtke would not say how much money the men were fighting over.

At one point, one of the men pulled a knife and stabbed the victim, who has not yet been identified, Radtke said. The victim, believed to be in his late 20s, later died at a hospital.

“They were definitely acquaintances,” Radtke said.

The stabber then entered a nearby nightclub, threw away the knife and ran east on Hollywood Boulevard.

Police on foot patrol nearby detained a man near Wilcox Avenue, about three blocks away. The 31-year-old suspect was expected to be booked on suspicion of murder sometime Thursday.
