Police track down suspect after a woman crossing a Pomona street is struck and killed by a car

A pedestrian trying to cross a Pomona street was struck and killed by a car Friday and a suspect was later arrested, officials said.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Lindsey Ann Prieto, died at the scene, according to a statement released by the Pomona Police Department. The vehicle that hit her sped away, the statement said.

Prieto was crossing Garey Avenue at Rio Rancho Road when she was struck, according to the statement.

Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle that hit her to 911 operators, which led investigators to the Ontario home of the suspected driver.

They arrested 29-year-old Christopher Acosta. He faces felony hit-and-run charges, police said.
