Two motorcyclists who died in separate incidents are identified
Two motorcyclists who died this week in separate incidents in Los Angeles and Orange counties have been identified.
Coroner’s officials say 47-year-old Kirk Lane of Palmdale is the motorcyclist who, according to the California Highway Patrol, died Tuesday after veering off Angeles Forest Highway near Mt. Emma Road and crashing into a ravine.
A witness told authorities that at 1 p.m., there were three motorcyclists traveling at high speeds when two of them passed the other on the left. That biker then overtook the two, moved onto the dirt shoulder and hit a dirt berm.
Lane went over the berm and tumbled down the hillside.
A day later, a motorcyclist -- identified by coroner’s officials as 29-year-old Brandon Wenn of Huntington Beach -- lost control near Goldenwest Street and Yorktown Avenue in Huntington Beach about 2:30 a.m.
“The motorcycle ultimately collided with several fixed objects, including a shopping center sign,” according to a news release from the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Wenn suffered “major injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
