Friday’s top games

San Fernando at Mission Hills Alemany, 7 p.m.: San Fernando could be the prime challenger to Narbonne in the City Section. The Tigers won Division I last season and have lots of returnees, speed and size. Alemany is debuting under first-year coach Casey Clausen with only four players who have played on varsity but lots of quality young prospects. The pick: Alemany.

La Puente Bishop Amat vs. Santa Ana Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, 7 p.m.: Mater Dei went 15-0 last season. Gone is quarterback J.T. Daniels and a top offensive line. Ready to take over is another USC recruit, Bryce Young. Receiver Bru McCoy is back to help. Bishop Amat has experience at quarterback and running back. The Lancers will put up a better fight than last season. The pick: Mater Dei.

Corona del Mar at San Juan Capistrano JSerra, 7 p.m.: Junior Ethan Garbers takes over at quarterback for Corona del Mar, which moves to the tougher Sunset League. JSerra is filled with transfer students making their debut, led by quarterback Caden Bell and running back Chris Street. The pick: JSerra.
