Baseball: Burroughs is 6-0 after 2-0 win over L.A. Roosevelt

Burbank Burroughs and its standout pitching staff keep producing positive results.

The Indians improved to 6-0 on Monday with a 2-0 win over L.A. Roosevelt in San Diego. Kyle Nicol threw four shutout innings, striking out seven and allowing one hit.

North Hollywood 9, Mar Vista 2: Brandon Sorto threw five shutout inning for the Huskies and also contributed three RBIs.

Cleveland 5, Rio Mesa 3: The Cavaliers (12-1) won in eight innings. Sam Villa picked up the win after throwing 7 2/3 innings. Anthony Rivera had two hits.

Alemany 5, Dana Hills 2: Daniel Richeson threw a two-hitter and Brandon Lewis and Nick Pico had two hits each.

El Camino Real 4, Poway 0: James Terrazas had a three-run double and got the save in relief of Jose Campos in San Diego. Campos threw six shutout innings.

Chatsworth 6, Basic 1: In Las Vegas, Josh Garcia struck out 11 to lead the Chancellors. In a second game that ended at 11:46 p.m., Chatsworth defeated Durango, 11-2. Ryan Roche threw a complete game and Hunter Pena had three RBIs.

Sun Valley Poly 5, Las Vegas Faith Lutheran 3: Alex Leon improved to 3-1 with the win in Las Vegas over the No. 1-ranked team in Nevada. In a second game, Poly lost to Shadow Ridge, 13-2.

San Fernando 6, Nevada Sierra Vista 2: Jason Ceja struck out seven in six innings. Steven Villagran and Kevin Gallo had two hits each. San Fernando lost to Liberty, 11-2.

Santa Margarita 1-6, Bishop Gorman 3-1: Joey Myers had two hits for the Eagles in the second-game win, and Alec Telles struck out four and gave up two hits in six innings.

Temescal Canyon 3, Chaffey 1: Tyler Hardman hit a two-run home run.

Etiwanda 11, Cajon 2: Vincent Mughannem threw a two-hitter and Chrim Jimenez and Steve Ramirez hit home runs for Etiwanda. Tyler Bardowell had three RBIs.

Santa Monica 5. Olympian 0: Lowell Schipper threw a five-hit shutout. Santa Monica improved to 7-1.

Quartz Hill 5, Oregon Sheldon 0: Jonathan Cornish threw five shutout innings.

Crescenta Valley 5, Citrus Valley 2: Trevor Beer threw a complete game, striking out five.
