Football: Vista Murrieta comes alive behind junior QB Kyle Williams

Share

There was a game early in the season when Vista Murrieta Coach Coley Candaele sent me a text message saying his team “stinks.”

Then he decided to move junior wide receiver Kyle Williams to quarterback. By the sixth game, Williams knew what he was doing. And Candaele is smiling again, because the Broncos are 8-2 and very much a factor in the West Valley Division.

“As soon as we moved him to quarterback, we became a different football team,” Candaele said. “We’re back to playing Vista Murrieta football.”

Williams has rushed for 1,021 yards and passed for 934 yards. Vista Murrieta opens at home against Canyon Country Canyon on Friday night.
