Akron, New Mexico need timely misplays to stay at top of college football Bottom Ten

Share

The schedule-maker is really putting the pressure on Bottom Ten colleagues Akron (0-9) and New Mexico (0-8).

How can the Zips and the Lost Lobos be expected to keep losing if they’re thrown such easy opponents every week?

Akron’s winless streak will be threatened next by Beach Ball State (2-7), a team that can lose on any given Saturday. Meanwhile, New Mexico gets benevolent Wyoming (2-7), whose defense surrenders 32 points per game.

Akron and New Mexico are going to need to come up with some timely misplays, because other Bottom Ten powers are demanding recognition.

That would include most any school from the state of Michigan. Last week, Michigan State, Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan all lost on the same day. (OK, Northern Michigan did win. You just had to ask.)

Crummy game of the weak: Wyoming (2-7) at New Mexico (0-8).

Rout of the weak: Michigan State (8-1) over Minnehaha (1-8) (It’s always risky to pick a Michigan team to win, but we feel pretty safe with this one).
