Mexico gets early start on rout

Jared Borgetti scored in the second minute, and Mexico went on to beat Iran, 4-0, Saturday in an exhibition that marked the national team debut of forward Nery Castillo.

Jaime Lozano (27th minute), Francisco Fonseca (81st) and Gerardo Torrado (84th) also scored as Mexico improved to 4-1 under Coach Hugo Sanchez, whose lone loss was to the U.S. Borgetti’s goal was his record 41st for the national team.

“I’m very happy for the debut. I want to thank everybody for the support,” said the 22-year-old Castillo, who plays for Olympiakos in Greece. “We did what we have to. It was a good match. We’re headed in the right direction.”
