After the Lakers were assigned the seventh pick in the June NBA draft during Tuesday's draft lottery, the team can turn to filling its coaching vacancy.

Mike Dunleavy met Wednesday with General Manager Mitch Kupchak to interview for the job, according to Yahoo Sports.

Dunleavy previously coached the Lakers (1990-92), as well as the Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers and Clippers.

The Lakers could have a long list of coaching candidates, including Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, Kurt Rambis, Byron Scott, Roy Williams, John Calipari, Mike Krzyzewski, Billy Donovan, Lionel Hollins, Ettore Messina and even former Laker Derek Fisher.

Dunleavy recently spoke highly of the Lakers.

"Clearly, if I had an opportunity to interview with them I would definitely be interested," said Dunleavy on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "I had a great run there when I coached in the '90s. I interviewed the last time the job was open.

"They’re just a great organization. I have lots of friends, obviously, from the organization from when I was there last and a lot of interaction over the years because I played them so many times in the playoffs."

Phil Jackson, president of the New York Knicks, also reportedly had a meeting with Dunleavy about the Knicks' coaching position.
