St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford reinjured the left knee he had surgery on last season and the Rams had four other starters hurt in a 33-14 win over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night.

Bradford went down after being hit by Browns defensive lineman Armonty Bryant in the first quarter. He grimaced in pain before walking gingerly to the sideline with Rams Coach Jeff Fisher watching every delicate step.

Bradford was examined on the bench and then escorted to the locker room for further medical tests. He did not return.

Browns starting quarterback Brian Hoyer threw a touchdown pass and rookie backup Johnny Manziel had a seven-yard scoring run. Manziel was also sacked twice by Rams rookie Michael Sam, who punctuated the first takedown by mimicking Manziel’s “money” sign.

In Denver, Broncos receiver Wes Welker was being evaluated for a possible concussion after taking a hit to the head from Houston defensive back D.J. Swearinger in the Texans’ 18-17 victory. Peyton Manning was irate and he picked up a taunting penalty for saying something to Swearinger after throwing a touchdown pass. Manning completed 21 of 27 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns.

Other exhibitions

Six days after returning to practice, Drew Brees threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter and led the New Orleans Saints to a 23-17 preseason victory at Indianapolis. Brees, who had an oblique injury, did not show a hint of rustiness against the winless Colts, completing nine of 15 for 128 yards with two touchdown passes, no interceptions and no sacks against the starting defense. ... Joe Flacco’s final throw was a touchdown pass for Baltimore and Washington’s Robert Griffin III concluded a lackluster night with an interception in the Ravens’ 23-17 victory over the Redskins. Flacco completed 16 for 23 passes for 180 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown throw to Steve Smith with 25 seconds left in the first half. Griffin was sacked three times... Julio Jones broke two tackles on a 52-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan as the Falcons built a big early lead before rookie Bishop Sankey’s late scoring run lifted the Tennessee Titans to a 24-17 victory. ... Orleans Darkwa ran in from one yard with 1:45 left, and the Miami Dolphins rallied from two scores down in the final minutes to beat the Dallas Cowboys, 25-20. Ryan Tannehill completed 13 of 21 passes for 119 yards with an interception for Miami, and Knowshon Moreno had 64 yards in 10 carries in his preseason debut. Tony Romo played the first half and completed 10 of 18 passes for 87 yards for the Cowboys. ... Josh McCown directed two first-half touchdown drives, and defensive tackle Clinton McDonald returned a fumble for a score in Tampa Bay’s 27-14 win over the slow-starting Buffalo Bills. First-round pick Mike Evans caught McCown’s perfectly placed 24-yard fade pass in the right corner in helping the Buccaneers build a 24-0 halftime lead. ... Matt Cassel made a winning return to Arrowhead Stadium, even if it was just a preseason game. The quarterback who was booed, benched and eventually released two years ago by the Kansas City Chiefs, threw for 152 yards and a touchdown, leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 30-12 victory over a Kansas City team dealing with a rash of injuries and suspensions.

Raji hurt

Green Bay nose tackle B.J. Raji tore his biceps in the Packers’ exhibition victory over the Oakland Raiders on Friday and will miss the entire season, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
