Update: This is the first of three season games between these Major League Soccer Western Conference rivals and the teams’ first MLS game after a three-week hiatus for the World Cup. Real Salt Lake, second in the conference standings behind Seattle, won all three games last year against Chivas USA, which is last in the conference. Chivas USA is coming off a 1-1 tie with the Carolina RailHawks in the U.S. Open Cup on June 14, while Real Salt Lake’s last match was a 2-1 loss to the Atlanta Silverbacks in the Open Cup. Real Salt Lake is winless in its last four MLS games. Forward Erick Torres leads Chivas USA in scoring with nine goals.
