Well, the World Cup just lost a lot of its appeal and hearts worldwide have been saddened with news that Jennifer Lopez has withdrawn from a commitment to perform during Thursday’s World Cup opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

Lopez is mum on the reason, but FIFA officials blame “production issues.”

Lopez’s representatives released a statement, saying “regretfully Jennifer Lopez will not be attending this year’s World Cup opening ceremonies.”

This means that the official World Cup song, “We Are One,” will only be performed by rapper Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte.

It’s sad news, but it seems that the least Lopez could do is send a former “American Idol” winner over to take her place. Would someone please get on the phone with Phillip Phillips?
