The Angels put closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain Thursday. They will make a corresponding move Friday, probably recalling a reliever from triple-A Salt Lake to join their bullpen for a six-game trip to Texas and Milwaukee.

Prime candidates appear to be right-handers Cam Bedrosian, the owner of a 3.24 earned-run average with the Bees this season, and Al Alburquerque, who has a 3.00 ERA.

Bedrosian, 24, opened the season with the Angels but was sent down after making two appearances. Alburquerque, 29, has not yet pitched for the Angels after spending the last three seasons with Detroit.

Street hurt the oblique while he warmed up Wednesday before the Angels secured a series sweep of Kansas City. This is the eighth disabled-list stint in his 12-year major league career.

“It’s never a good thing when you lose your closer, but that’s why there’s seven of us out there,” said Joe Smith, the setup man who will close in Street’s absence. “Everyone has to step up and do a little bit more than you were asked to before.”

Two Angels pitchers have suffered strained obliques within the last two years. One of them, starter Matt Shoemaker, missed less than three weeks and returned for a successful playoff start in 2014 The other, reliever Mike Morin, missed nearly six weeks in 2015.
